The Massachusetts Medical Society, Waltham, will offer discounts on electronic prescription services that its physician members can use for mobile hardware. The group has selected the Rcopia electronic prescription service from Rockville, Md.-based DrFirst Inc.
By year's end, Rcopia will enable physicians to electronically access and conduct communications with more than half of the nation's chain and independent pharmacies. Physicians can transmit new prescriptions and expedite refills with pharmacies, as well as connect with payer pharmacy benefit managers. DrFirst has partnered with RxHub LLC, St. Paul, Minn., to integrate patient drug benefit and medication history from the benefit managers into the Rcopia prescribing service.
